Old News

This is for updates older than the most recent five. Why the heck would you want to read this?

December 4, 2004: With all the action around here, you oughtta be surprised that even this much was done. There are two essays by Brian, and if you don't believe me you can see them here. I also wrote three journals (Nov 19, Dec 2, Dec 3), with the little icons being the highlight. There are some obvious issues with the site's counter... I may have found a fix. Whatever.

November 11, 2004: HRD. I moved recently, but still managed to do some journals so the site would seem less neglected. There are three (Nov 2, Nov 9, Nov 11).

November 1, 2004: New layout and one journal (Nov 1). I sure hope this whole thing works, or I'm slightly and temporarily screwed. As with most layout changes, things have been reorganized but are generally left untouched (except every freakin' file!). A couple of sacrifices were made, but whaddya gonna do?

October 30, 2004: Took a while, considering it wasn't an official hiatus, but there's lots of stuff, at least. Having a laptop makes me write journals a bit more often, I guess. There are four of them (Oct 5, Oct 15, Oct 25, Oct 28), two stories by Jesse, and even an essay-like item from Josh that I intended to upload most of a year ago.

October 4, 2004: I'm on top of things now. Actually, for reasons that will become obvious soon, I just wanted to post the most recent journal sooner rather than later. Without further ado, there are 3 of 'em (Sep 21, Sep 30, Oct 4). I also was asked to remove Jesse's fifth new story (the short one) because it was actually some sort of special webmaster's preview or something without anything to indicate that at all.

September 19, 2004: Hahah, another wait. Suckers. At this one actually is worth it. Two journals (Sep 14, Sep 16, and the last few with image problems were fixed), two old lyrixes of mine that I found (One, Two), and exactly five stories by Jesse (One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six). Also, an actual ending has been appended to the ice wall log. Lots of stuff, eh?
Coverage of The Toronto Chase is available in the
first of those two journals.

September 4, 2004: This one is SO good, it was worth the wait. There are three journals (Apr 12, Apr 20, and Sep 3) and an essay Brian wrote like half a year ago in the editorials page. There are some 5 or 6 3 KB stories that Jesse wrote in my inbox too, they were just tiny and, eh, I'm at the freakin' cottage. Like I'm going to use the nerdophone that much.
I didn't have the custom icons I made for those journals (they're on my other computer), so I kind of copped out. I'll fill them in next update, fear not.

March 3, 2004: New journal by Kyle (Mar 3), new short story by Jesse... and sadly, a possible conclusion to the ice wall log.

February 28, 2004: Suffer to see what reading week did to me. There's two new lyrics by Josh and I, two new editorials by Brian and I, a new journal (Feb 24), a new Kyle vs. Max, and a full log of our ice wall that will probably take an irritatingly long time to load. Impressed? Also, check out the authors page a few times. It's fun, and Adam's on there now (because he wants to be literate, and built the ice wall to compensate). I fixed the sidebar, too.

February 10, 2004: There's nothing but a journal (Feb 10) and the new sidebar. I was going to post mine first and Adam's second to honor my competitor, but then I absentmindedly did his, so... screw that. We've all been kind of busy with school and stuff, still it seems like I can't get away without updating every once in a while so people know I haven't forgotten about the site. Remember when I used to post more than one journal at a time? Those were the days.

January 29, 2004: I got nothing except one journal (Jan 29), but lady, you can keep it!

January 23, 2004: Today you get a sidebar change, and the small WR logo links to the main page (so that we're more "normal"). There's also a journal (Jan 23), a fan edition of Kyle vs. Max that Brian whipped up a couple weeks ago, and on the editorials page, a short essay that Brian accidentally wrote for his myths class.
Yes, I skipped a sidebar, but it was one that I made, so I think I have a right to skip it. You can still go admire it here if you want. Why not use it? I'd rather use fewer of my own and get some variety going on, and the Godlike one is a bit busy for my tastes.

January 20, 2004: It should be pretty clear that I had to remove that last journal. Here's a new one (Jan 20) that will very vaguely explain it, or at least shut everyone up. Also, some perceptive people might've noticed you can access this page via www.wrftpb.com now. I'll change the sidebar this week, but I'm most certainly done for today. It's a bugger that this server isn't SSI-happy, let me tell ya.

January 9, 2004: Since I'm SSHing to remove a bunch of unused stuff I accidentally uploaded yesterday anyways, I figured I'd upload my one new journal (Jan 9) for the chick audience. Call me an eager beaver if you must.

January 8, 2004: Two months of constant effort have brought you this update. Jesse wrote two really short stories, and I wrote two fairly long journal entries (Jan 6 and Jan 8). I also changed the formatting on several things, removed several things, changed the sidebar, and modified another graphic or two. I hope this was worth the wait.

November 10, 2003: This'll be a nice little update for everyone. There's some editorials (one by Kyle and two by Brian), two journals (Nov 3 and Nov 10), and the new sidebar. I've decided to start with #6 because it was pretty good, and I thought Jesse would enjoy having his posted. Enjoy your fifteen minutes, laddie! Did someone say stupid shit?

October 28, 2003: Some fixes... like the backslashes on this page. Links to the results of TGWRftPBSDCII should work, and I even reformatted the results of TGWRftPBSDC to be a little more like the new one. No big deal, but hey.

October 27, 2003: TGWRftPBSDCII has been judged, and the results can be viewed here! There's also two new journals (Oct 17, Oct 24) and a Musings. Expect the sidebar change when I have a better procrastination slot. Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest (Jeff, John, Sean, Adam and us (I guess)).

October 19, 2003: Although there -is- stuff to upload, I'm pretty busy today. Instead I'm just going to inform everyone that there has indeed been an extension for the sidebar contest (since Josh won't be available to judge until next weekend anyways). The contest now closes on Friday, October 24th, at 4:00 PM. They're all pretty good so far, but still only about six people have entered (although some have submitted several sidebars). I hope to see more entries!

October 8, 2003: This is being uploaded around midnight. That means you've only got about a week to do your sidebars. Freakin' get busy. One new hint has been added. Everybody's a winner*.
There's also three journals: Sep 29, Oct 7 (FotoHunt edition), and Oct 8. There's some consideration underway for other authors to get journal sections, but since they're all inert masses of goo, forget that crap. Anyways, the journals are really all I have, I just didn't want them to pile up.

*Note: everyone is not a winner

September 23, 2003: Okay... lots of stuffz. First and foremost, TGWRftPBSDCII page has been updated and clarified. Hints have been added! You may want to take a second look at that. Jesse found four editorials lying around his hard drive. A journal has been added for Sept 23, and the online journals page has titles for each day added on. Really thorough people might notice that the old news page has had some links modified to be a little more useful. More stupid shit, too.
Georgina has received nothing but spam for three months! She's sad!

September 17, 2003: A little treat for y'all... the first place sidebar is up, journals for Sept 5 and Sept 17, two new comics, the announcement and rules of The Great Wholesome Reading for the Profoundly Bored Sidebar Design Contest II (TGWRftPBSDCII), and some really stupid shit. I'd also like to point out that I just noticed the thing that says "numb your mind until summertime" was there all summer. Awesome.

September 2, 2003: Okay, so I took some time off to honor Labor Day. Enjoy the 2nd place sidebar (by yours truly), and a journal that I feel everyone will find somewhat amusing. I'm just ON today! With the 3rd place sidebar will probably come the rules for the second sidebar design contest.

August 9, 2003: Sorry about the little hiatus. I just didn't feel like doing WR stuff lately. Whatever. Anyways, there's a journal from yesterday (with a bit of a twist), and the sidebar has been changed. This is the third place sidebar from TGWRftPBSDC. The few who contributed and a few who didn't have shown interest in another go at the contest, so that will likely be announced in late August or early September. Latez.

July 25, 2003: The results are in! You can now check out the results of TGWRftPBSDC! The sidebar hasn't been changed because I don't have time before leaving to the cottage for my birthday weekend. Expect it early next week, probably starting with the 3rd place entry.
Altogether I was pleased with the contest... though I want to see MORE ENTRIES next time! Expect another one, probably before the end of the summer, and thanks to all who participated.
Have a good my birthday, everyone.

July 22, 2003: This is being uploaded at 3:30 PM, meaning you have less than 21 hours to email your sidebars to me for the contest. I guess I should assume by now that most of the people who said they'd enter have quit in light of my mad sidebar skillz making their entries pointless, right? Wimps. Anyways, there's also a journal entry and a new comic by Jesse (which I'm sorry to say is based on a true story).
Nobody's been emailing Georgina lately. What's the deal?

July 19, 2003: All I've got for you today is a very special journal edition, and a reminder that you should be making sidebars right now.

July 18, 2003: Notice the teaser sidebar! This thing won't have a very long lifespan. Remember everyone, the due date for TGWRftPBSDC is Wednesday at noon! Also, some things relevant to scoring have been changed, so check it out if you're participating. They'll probably be judged on Thursday the 24th though I can't promise immediate results. Every entry counts as an early birthday surprise for me. Jesse made a couple more comics as well, so this update actually has content.

July 15, 2003: I got a journal and a lyric. There's been a change in a rule for the Sidebar Design Contest (the minimum size of the sidebar has been decreased to 300 pixels), and also a small banner has been added to the contact page that people can use to link to WRftPB with style.

July 9, 2003: There's another journal for everyone to drink in. It contains few thoughts, mostly just events... which makes it more a journal than other journals, I guess. You can also view the creation of Charlene Lawnicus or read the cool version of this page.

July 4, 2003: HERE.
Geez. Take a little break to move bottles of bleach and every ends up jumping down your freakin' throat. C'mon! You can't read the journal in my throat! There's no light, morons! You couldn't read editorials by Brian and Jesse, nor comics by Jesse, nor lyrics by Kyle and Brian, nor participate in the Sidebar Design Contest! Freakin' idiots...

May 8, 2003: Journal and lyric. Eeeyup. The Heroes of Nefaihr site is pretty much done (albeit sloppy), but seriously, what respectable person would want to look at that?
Am I missing something? It seems like so much was done recently. Ah well. Can someone please email my cat? She's very nice.

April 27, 2003: Okay, enjoy a journal, a lyric, some comics, and a change small enough that nobody will notice. I'm working on the Heroes of Nefaihr page but I won't upload it until it's done. So nyah.

April 6, 2003: We got goodies. Editorials, a lyric, a journal, and a little links update too. There's a new page added for a project I've started some work on. I'd really like it if everyone could check this out and quickly give their opinion. Georgi wouldn't mind hearing about your troubles, either, at georgicat@hotmail.com .

March 30, 2003: Finally, a Kyle vs. Max we can rely on! Relax in an interview. And don't forget, a journal a day keeps the Josh away!

March 24, 2003: Here's a real update, after weeks of suffering. There's some journals, tons of lyrics (2 by me and 16 by newcomer Josh) and also some authors page stuff due to Josh. I think that's it.
Georgi is as confused as you, coping with a new kitten... but she's still willing to help! Email her at georgicat@hotmail.com !

March 3, 2003: Extremely minor fixes. There were a couple typoes screwing up the links between journal pages. I also added a bookmark icon thing, a real treat for browsers that support them.

March 2, 2003: Time for the update to shut everyone up! We got a new sidebar, we got a new journal, we got sounds on the SV quotes pages, we got the first edition of Ask Georgina, and we also got additions to Kyle's backgrounds. I'm sorry to say I've been much more graphics-inclined for the last few days. Whatever. Deal.

February 15, 2003: Today we celebrate another Valentine's Boxing Day. There's a new lyric, a new comic, a new journal and some modifications to the author pages. We've even thrown in a new counter. I don't recommend peeking at the tracker, because it would embarrass me a little.
Georgina's got enough emails for her first column, which she'll write very soon! If your life is a giant mess, email Georgi at georgicat@hotmail.com !

February 9, 2003: This update has added some good stuffs to the editorials page, including two more music reviews and a long overdue Musings. There's also a journal, comme usuel.
Georgina would still like to help alleviate everyone's anguish! georgicat@hotmail.com

February 3, 2003: Okay, here's your real update. On the first, you may have passed over Jesse's new lyric. There's also tons of stuff on the other stuff page, including comics and old RPG characters. There's a journal in the deal for you, too. I guess that's about it... hm. Seemed like a lot earlier. Whatever.
Anyone who needs advice, please send to Georgina's upcoming advice column! You can email her at georgicat@hotmail.com .

February 1, 2003: For now, just the usual crap to tide people over. You can find it by your freakin' self!

January 20, 2003: There's some journalling goin' down for a change! Also a little lyric... everything else I was going to do are side projects that're 90% done! I promise!

January 11, 2003: Music reviews. Journal. Little error fixed. Thanks John K.

January 8, 2003: Happy New Year! I'm still slacking, but the site needed an update. The sidebar is restored, some journals are done, a new lyric, and several typoes are fixed, no thanks to you! I'll probably do more over the next couple of days.

December 24, 2002: I just wrote a journal update, and feel I should update. I'm slacking on the music reviews. So spoon me. Merry Christmas, or equivalent holiday!

December 19, 2002: In honor of my holidays, I'm listening to the band Kittie. Hm.
So there's one new journal, a wonderful new lyric by Jesse (check it out!), one new music review, and we mutilated the sidebar for the season! It's designed to offend absolutely everybody, so don't bother complaining if you have a problem with it. Happy holidays!

December 15, 2002: Well... no big updates as expected. Check the journal to find out why! Maybe I won't tell everyone to come yet. I'm just not as motivated as I should be right now, with all this time off. There's only been two journal entries in two weeks, and 3 of my music reviews are done... that means only 130 to go! Jesse and Brian are slacking, too.

December 2, 2002: Lotsa little updates. Fixed a couple tiny typoes, changed Brian's picture, added a story by Jesse, added a journal, and added a survey to my authors page (sorry, it probably won't stay long). Jesse and I sort of decided that the real "unveiling" will be around December 10-13. That's when we'll tell everyone. So far it's only been the same few visitors over and over. If you're one of them, constructive criticism is COOL!

November 29, 2002: I just spent approximately forever doing the major redesign. I hadn't realized when I started that it would mean changing every single page... and I'm sure EditPad has a function to find/replace in multiple documents, I just never bothered looking. So now we've got a new side bar that should load a lot better for most people, and the history page is much more pretty and complete than it was yesterday. I guess I'm ready to send a mass email... but I think I'll just let this sit and get some feedback from a select few first. Sound good? Great.
If you were wondering what the sacrifices of the update were (besides poorly done HTMLing), they include the mouseovers on the sidebar and the navigational tables on the main pages. I don't think anyone will weep for the tables (they were redundant), but someone was talking to me just today about those mouseovers. They will be missed.

November 28, 2002: Okay, I did some stuff. There's a couple of new journals, a new lyric by Jesse the lunatic, and I wrote the history section. Yes, I know I said I'd really tell everyone about it once all the sections were done, but it'll wait just a little longer for some graphical tweaks.

November 24, 2002: First new box update. It works fine. In fact, I could've done this update 6 days ago, if I had wanted to. Anyhoo, Jesse jumped on the lyrics page bandwagon, and there's some of the most boring journals in the universe posted, too. Enjoy!

November 17, 2002: I'm sort of busy, but I did a big update anyways. Look for big changes on the authors page, which includes a new item on each contributor's page. Brian contributed some nice stuff, so you can look for his work on the lyrics page and the stories page. I did a journal update too, but seriously, who cares?
My apologies if all heck breaks loose over the next few days. I'm going to be working off a new box.

November 14, 2002: Okay, Mr. Brownground, here's what we've got for you: some very non-emotional journal updates, Jesse's Sleep Log (with brutal formatting), a baby links change, and a new lyrix. I think that's it.

November 7, 2002: S'up? I just did a couple of journals and added a Nedstat counter to the page so Jesse can see how pathetic the traffic is. Maybe if somebody bothers me I'll write the history section and some other new stuff. Still busy for like a week, though.

October 31, 2002: Happy Halloween. Today we're updating with a few journals, and some stories and editorials about the Sniper. I also added recommended articles to the links page. No Jesse, I didn't update your Jesse page yet. Deal with it.

October 22, 2002: Worst update ever! I did a journal (almost two, actually) and modified the side thingie a very small bit and just felt like updating. No, I didn't actually do any other writing. It's okay if the side images look stupid because I might just change the whole thing to one (less annoying) imagemap sometime soon.

October 19, 2002: The dumb links page, plain though it may be, is complete. There's also a couple of new lyrixes and some journal crud from the last few days. I meant to add another fun stupid thing but the two pictures I needed have mysteriously vanished. Hmm.

October 14, 2002: There's a new journal entry, a new Musings, and something fun that I made while I was wasting time a while ago. I hope everyone had a fun Thanksgiving and/or Columbus Day.

October 8, 2002: There's a couple new stories and a journal update. I intended to do the stupid history section, but I probably won't get that done tonight.

September 19, 2002: Another pretty small update. The Musings have been re-added, the authors page has filled out almost entirely, and a little journal entry was made. No big ground-breaking news or anything... nothing quite as important as the 20th anniversary of the :-).

September 18, 2002: Tiny update. I added new lyrix and a skeleton for the authors page. Also fixed a typo that was bothering me.

September 16, 2002: I hope everyone checked out the Fotohunt page, because it was really cool. Maybe just viewing the pictures isn't as cool as actually getting them? Oh well. Today's update includes some journal, #Squareville! quotes on the other stuff page, and also the contact info page is ready. I'll be getting around to some other sections and crud soon. Muse is good.

September 11, 2002: Finally somewhat back into the groove. I'd just like to express sympathy for victims of last year's attacks. As for the actual update, there's just some more journals and editorials. No, I still didn't finish the other sections... relax, I'm a full-time student with a brutal commute. Oh yeah, also a small change to Fruitball, and I'd also like to advertise the site with results for (and pictures from) the Fotohunt I did in mid August. It's fun stuff, check it out!

August 28, 2002: Okay, there's a big update for today. I'm going away for the weekend, so this is the last update before back-to-school time... and who knows how far between updates will be then? Anyhow, you'll be excited to know journals and stories have had some solid updates, and several editorials have been added. Along with all of this, the first auxilliary author has had his items posted! We welcome Jesse to the site, and assure you that if the authors section existed yet, he'd be there!

August 22, 2002: Geez, so selflessly maintaining this stupid page is brutal. I just finished all the journal entries, and then I realized I should probably add something to the What's New page... it just never freakin' ends. I've still got to do the History and all that stuff, and adding non-journal content, but some stuff has been added. The journals are totally ready for some attention, another thingie was added to the lyrics page, and some links were fixed. Tell me if anything else is screwed up.

August 18, 2002: I added something fun to the other stuff section. Also, I decided to upload the parts of the journal that are ready. These (and chunks of other sections) will gradually be completed over the next few days, so to quote that dude on Jurassic Park, "hold on to your butts".

August 16, 2002: Yup, the gland is fine now. Despite my working very late this week, I came home to do this. Today there was a very minor update to the lyrics section again. I'm working on some journal stuff, but I'm not going to upload that until it's worth looking at. So chill out.

August 15, 2002: I may or may not upload this anytime soon, but I gave the layout some changes to account for something I'd like to add to the page in the future. I've got some stuff added to the lyrics section... hopefully this work will unclog my procrastination gland.

March 21, 2002: Today marks a big day for bored people who like to read! I mean, sure, there's not a whole lot of content or anything, but the site got an update. If only everyone understood how exciting this is.

Late October, 2001: The funky links were added, but don't do anything. At least they look pretty.

Early September, 2001: A directory is named for this page and a picture of a blue, sleeping cow is added. Nice, huh?
