Right now it's 3:24, and I have a class at 4:00. I'm just kinda bored. This weekend I was working four days in a row, three of which were 12-hour shifts. I kind of thought it would suck, but it wasn't that bad. It was the Easter weekend, so it was really inactive there. On Thursday and Friday there were supervisor ladies there, popping in occasionally in addition to the other guy I was working with, but Saturday and Sunday it was just two of us. On Saturday, the other guy ate some fruit in the morning and then had some terrible stomach pains. He was pretty much passed out. After a while of me doing most of the worst while he was sort of dead over at his station, I told him he should call someone, or if he wasn't feel well enough I'd call someone in for him. Eventually he tried, but couldn't get anyone... he didn't want to leave, because it was only like my 5th shift on security and if something crazy happened I might not know how to react to it. He gave up after a while and went to get some Maalox. He was okay after that, but it was funny that I was practically in charge. Sunday, it was equally dead. This guy likes to leave his phone for a couple rings before answering, and lets the alarms ring for 30 seconds before acknowledging. Since I can't stand that kind of horrible beeping I was always reacting to stuff quicker than him. If they look at the security log they'll see a lot more of "CHA" next to events than "NOT". I was going to come home yesterday night and write my parents an email asking them to let the Easter Bunny know that I'd be free for an egg hunt on Monday evening, but on my way out of the building a familiar SUV pulled up. Dad drove me home, and I told him about this plan to ask for Easter and he told me they already had an Easter hunt at the condo. Awesome! Unfortunately the condo is small. In my little quests to tell them about my weekend, take my socks off, and talk to Georgi I saw two of the items, but I just relaxed and followed the trail anyway. So, right now Kwok showed up. He said he's meeting someone at quarter to five, so he was talking to me. I stopped to talk to him, but he noticed I was doing this, and said, "keep typing". Now he walked away. Hm. Uh, back on topic, I got Easter this year. Tah dah. I kind of thought I might have time to write these while at work, but it would suck if I were writing something and completely lost my train of thought because someone shot out all the windows at a school or something. I kept sort of busy... I read a lot of websites, and am now bored of the internet. I would call people back for stupid alarms that were going off for no reason... yeah, I tried to keep busy. Saturday night I remembered that I was supposed to be a witness for another mini-trial in my law class (the one I wrote that report for), so I checked my phone messages. I talked to one of the phony lawyers and he told me he'd email me my script in the morning. I must've checked my email about 30 times yesterday for this damn thing for a good way to spend some downtime, but nope, it wasn't showing up. Freakin' guy. I still did it, reading off the script today. I was being someone who was a casual marijuana user who received a criminal record. I was being used to prove that the travel and employment restrictions placed on occasional marijuana users is a little bit over the top. I guess I agree with that, but if we legalize everything except murder, murder will just become the next new "cool thing", right? In our discussions in class I had a chance to tell an entertaining anecdote that I may have mentioned. One time like a year ago when Adam and I were taking the bus to Peterborough we were wasting some time in downtown Oshawa waiting for a bus. We wanted coffee (we had been working overnight) and we walked around looking for a coffee shop and couldn't find one. Eventually Adam said, "We'll probably be offered drugs before we find coffee.". We soon found a Coffee Time and sat down on a bench to have it when a guy came by and said, "Needweed?". I didn't even understand it at first. We declined and laughed about how prophetic Adam's earlier comment was, and then I saw the guy go across the street to a group of kids who were maybe 14. Then they all walked into some alley. I remember thinking, the kids here don't even have a chance. That's just how my brain phrased it, I wasn't sure what the word "chance" was referring to. Really though, I'm ultimately for the legalization of marijuana. It will become regulated, it will become taxed, and it will become less cool. Particularly if it's enforced as well as smoking is... this is one of my favourite Canadian legal things. 1) It's illegal to steal cigarettes. Seriously, what a concept. By people under 19 smoking, a law has been broken. Do you think someone would be arrested if they were eating a dead man? It's almost 4 and Kwok is walking over here again. I'm done. |
