Vacation garb

Kyle Chapman, BSc. He think he so bad.

I've got a week off. I know I always say I'll try to do this more often, but I will. I even have ideas for things I want to write about. This one is intended as sort of a current events update... as most are.

My exams are over as of last Thursday morning. It was number theory. All of the exams and end-of-semester crap went well enough that I've going to graduate officially in six weeks or so. Because I was free, I finally got a chance to visit my new nephew, Benjamin Andrew Paterson on Thursday. He was actually born the Friday previous... but I was really busy.

Y'see, I had an exam each day from the 19th to 21st of April, and then I worked long days on every day until the math exam. It was rough. There wasn't a lot of time to study, so I didn't get to see Ben until just recently. Everything is a little too calm now though. I don't have anything to put off... it's irritating. I even got a whole bunch of videogames from Wai lately, but I just don't feel like playing them sometimes, y'know? That's the kind of thing that inspires me to update.

That... and Jesse noticed that I spelled a word wrong in January.

Speaking of Jesse, he got a job as a tester for Electronic Arts in British Columbia where his older woman is living. He's moving there for a while, from what he said yesterday I think he said it will be at least until August because that's when this project ends, or somesuch. He'll be moving I think early in the week after next or something... I'm not too sure, because my grasp of the concept of planning is very weak.

Anyways, there are some months where we never do anything, so it probably won't be that big a deal. I mean, I don't think it'll be a big problem for him socially. He seems to be viewing this as sort of a self-discovery process. That's okay, I guess, but I imagine that the most radical aspect of it will be paying his own bills. Well, that and the talk lately about Electronic Arts forcing employees to do 80-hour weeks, which could probably make Jesse have interesting hallucinations after a while. I already get enough emails from him about his dreams.

My big plan is to stay at the school board for the summer, unless other opportunities arise. I think I'd like to go the teaching route. I'm fairly certain that my marks will be adequate. Another girl at the school board seems to be doing the same plan as me, actually. I found out during a "customer service training session" we had on Friday.

During that session, we did our personality colour test thing. Everybody I knew who had done this had me figured for a "green" type. I didn't even get told what it was, though I suspected it was like a hippie. Somebody said that a lot of technology-oriented people end up as greens, and that made me think that green is for nerds. During the colour test, I tried desperately to not be a nerd while answering all questions honestly.

It didn't work... I'm definitely green.

I don't like these kinds of tests that try to organize people into categories. I'm a big fan of the idea of people being unique. Of course, I know they are, and I also acknowledge that this test works -- it doesn't pinpoint your personality and throw you into the respective bucket, it just gives an idea of certain tendencies people tend to have. I'm not against the test or anything, I just don't really like it.

I mean, it was fun while it lasted. And I guess it is good to know. It's just dumb that you can categorize people into four groups and then the idea is to treat people differently depending on what type of person they are. If I treat all gold people with the punctuality and organization they crave, I'm denying myself, and furthermore I'm denying them myself.
Ain't no one should want to be meeting a bunch of fakers just to placate themselves.

This is another one of the many things that I feel strongly about that I can't put into words effectively. Well, such is Kylesque awkwardness.
Or hey, maybe it's a green thing. That would be a nice excuse.

Anyways, like I said, I have a week off. I work night shift on Friday and Saturday. So, this week I need to find things to occupy myself. I'd prefer things that don't have sound, because I recently got new albums by Eels, Beck, Ben Folds... all of which are extremely rockin'. More on that later.
