Without anything really to talk about, I've decided to type a journal from the bus. I suppose it's sort of for novelty's sake. My battery meter dealie says I have 58 minutes to do this in, which means it's probably more like 45 minutes... about the length of the bus leg of the trip itself. Unfortunately, this unsteady jumping laptop might make me type slower than I normally would... so hey, I might not finish. It's been a while since I made a concise journal though, right? I mean, it HAD to have been AT LEAST four months. I'm coming home from school now and it's Thursday. Thursday is 8 hours long for me with 4 hours of class. It seems I've made more friends or something, because I talk to lots of people besides Wai and John. For that matter, I've barely talked to John, I guess because there are no labs yet (and thus no wonderful inspirational environment for comp sci folks). I wonder if they realize how much the lack of labs has damaged us? I remember back when Bennett was in school being in the same room as him was pretty important because you could be entertained while you worked. I'm not sure what happened to him. Anyways, there's a four-hour gap in my timetable on Thursdays, and it's hard to entertain myself. Wai and I actually found a mouseless computer in the library (because all these crazy newbies don't know how to get by with no mouse) and went to bash.org to read quotes for like an hour and a half. We were waiting for the Atrium to empty out so we could get food. We ended up going at 2 o'clock or so, and I got a yummy pita and a free drink (thank you student guide). We did a crossword from pretty much every newspaper, but still had an hour to kill before my class. We noticed that The Croissant Tree had free wireless*. I wasn't too worried about the *, so we moved to sit near it (but not in it, it's scary) to get the signal. I picked it up a signal on the laptop but it was one of those dumbass things where you have to pay to log in. Not being that desperate for entertainment, we gave up and watched One Piece instead, which I have 30+ episodes of on here. Good times. Speaking of One Piece, the following things are what stopped me from updating for four months besides having a job and stuff.
Yeah, I got back into video games like an idiot. First it was Transformers, which I was pretty much obligated to buy by my religion. I played that for a while, beat some stuff, got some stuff, and got stuck for long time... it kept me occupied for a while. Front Mission 4 was actually to tide me over until the Mega Man Collection came out, but boy was it a good buy. Giant wanzer combat is rediculously addictive and the amount of customization of characters/wanzers that the game allows is just wonderful. I also got Adam addicted, and our first game ended up being 85 hours or so because he enjoyed playing simulators so much. Diablo II was part of a deal where Adam said if I bought it he'd buy Civilization III. The bad news I found out later was that Civilization III Multiplayer isn't available on Mac (yet?), but the good news is Diablo II is fun. There was a very cool social aspect to it, with Brian, Adam, Wai and I all playing together on several occasions. I was the amazon, and in general I rocked. Next I made an assassin, who rocked less, and eventually the game got boring. I'll probably go back to it at some point, but I certainly had my fill. Wai had played it a lot in the past and reinstalled it to play with us when I told him I got it. He got completely addicted, levelling several characters to 50... basically as strong as our very best ones were. It was nuts. So, when we went to the cottage for a week in August and didn't play for a while, Wai saved himself by removing it from his computer completely. We returned wanting to play and we couldn't understand his response because his withdrawal was so severe. Yeah, that part is made up. Mega Man, of course, is fun. I even trained some of the guys to not suck at it. I'm pretty much the side-scroller king of 958. I made some comment about that recently. Kyle gestures towards himself, "I'm the best at side scrollers", Jesse got a lambasting for saying he was good at RPGs. Bastard doesn't even know that it stands for ruhpug. Hey, that was pretty cool. The bus driver hates cellphones, too. He just asked a guy on a cellphone to please sit a few seats back, and then the guy sat down right behind him. Human + Cellphone = -Courtesy. The whole videogame thing hasn't quite ended yet, probably because I don't have any real work to do yet. Adam and I actually both went to Pacific Mall and got our PS2's modified, so it seems evident that there are no real signs of it abating. Well, except maybe all these journals. I won't be posting this tonight, maybe on the weekend some time. 7% power. Nice. |
